The Bureau d’Économie Théorique et Empirique (BETA) is delighted to be hosting the next Journées Doctorales du Développement of the Association Française d’Économie du Développement (AFEDEV) in Strasbourg, at the Pôle Européen de Gestion et d’Economie.

This two-day event is an opportunity for young doctoral students in development economics to present their work to an audience of doctoral students and teacher-researchers.

Why should you take part?

  • Share your work with a friendly, specialist academic audience.
  • Get valuable feedback from senior researchers and other PhD students.
  • Collaborate and discuss the work of your peers in a stimulating environment.

All topics in development economics are encouraged. Priority will be given to full papers and PhD students in 1st and 2nd year, but extended abstracts are also accepted as well as submissions from PhD students in 3rd year or above.
To encourage geographical diversity, we encourage the participation of a senior researcher from the selected candidate’s faculty to also attend the event. However, this is not a criterion for acceptance.

Practical information:

  • Two days of presentations and discussions.
  • Dinner in the centre of Strasbourg on 28 January.
  • Workshop organised just before the ADRES Doctoral Conference (30-31 January), also in Strasbourg.
  • There is no registration fee. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs.

Submission deadline: 20 December 2024

Submit your article by filling in the form: https://forms.gle/m7isRZGhmyGV4coZ6.

Acceptance decisions will be announced in early January.
